Elite 2.2 032

Here's a quick rundown of what I've got so far. Feel free to add to it and give feedback.

Geti star base armor from 75 to 125.
Geti star tower armor from 5 to 10
Geti star towers gain 10 hp/second
Geti star buildings gain an additional 2% life every upgrade, no armor bonus

Removed repair from Gero
Removed self healing from Gero
Gave all Gero's units 15% life steal

Removed the text-based sense

tweaked creepmap

Gravity ball level increased to 15, from 12.
Gravity ball stats increased to 3, from 2.

Began the process of adding new heroes

Updated the endgame message to say "whois spn01"

Fixed neutral heroes appearing in hell

Elite 2.2 beta 031


Changed attack and armor types to provide consistent damage output (geti stone and chaos being exception)
ranged units cannot miss attacking uphill
All heroes do hero damage except Babidi. His chaos does 25% more damage.
Canceling a building gives a full refund
Android 19's power relative to Gero is  50-75-100, down from 50-100-150.
Buffed death beam by .25x int per level
Heroes start with 10 armor and now gain an armor every 25 agi, up from 20.
Heroes have a base "sense" ability that pings enemy heroes in the vicinity. Range increases by 2 for every agility point. Base range is 1000. Costs 5% mana and has a 10 second cooldown.

Character design contest #2

It's that time again. If you've got an idea for a new character, post it here and there's a good chance you'll see it in the game soon. Previous entries are allowed and encouraged to be entered again. Just make sure that if you make a google doc that it isn't set to private. Post a link to your design in the comment section and feel free to contribute ideas and add to the discussion.

About icons:
Icons must be 64x64 images. Standard abilities require only a "button" and a "disabled button". Preferred format is bmp, jpg, or tga. Bonus points if you convert them to .blp yourself and upload them somewhere (use Warcraft 3 Viewer).

Ideally, spells will include mana cost, cooldowns, number of levels, required level, durations (if applicable), icons, and short descriptions. Information about characters can be found HERE if you need ideas.

If there is a suitable model ingame already, great. If a model ingame could be reskinned to work for the character, that's okay too. If not, there are several sites that host wc3 models (,, to name a few.) that may have what you need.

Roles really don't mean much at this point, but knowing what the designer had in mind for the character makes it a little easier on me.

Unique features 
Unique features have a pretty big influence on whether the character gets made or not. I don't like characters just being clones of other characters, so I like heroes that have something to make them stand out. Dende had healing, dball empowerment, and temporary resurrection. Gero could make creeps into minions, repair anything mechanical, and had a permanent companion. Hercule's gameplay was based around his ego and winning tournaments, and he was a very single target, in your face kind of fighter that also had traps and high evasion. Tao had armor penetration, flying pillarlol, kill targets, a long range skill shot ability, high crit chance, and the only ability that could be deflected and kill the user. Even the pre-2.2 characters had something unique to them.

2.2 Beta 030


Dende's sacred water should work properly (for real this time)
Trying the dynamic texture thing out on Cooler. Metal Cooler and normal Cooler are now a single model with a dynamic texture and head attachments. Type -head 1, -head 2, -body 1, -body 2 to try it out. You can mix and match heads and bodies. If this works as intended it should save a lot of map space and allow for some cool visual updates to the characters.

Not a map update

I haven't done much in the way of actual work on the map in the last few days. I think I'm going to take a few more days to relax and clear my head. I've still been experimenting with a few things that could become neat additions to the game, though. For example, I've discovered a method of allowing a single model and a single texture file to have multiple textures. If combined with one of those headless models it's entirely possible to add super saiyan hair and other cosmetic things that I've been opposed to without actually increasing the size of the map. Models that use the same base or have similar geometry (such as 19 / fat buu or Frieza / MC / Cooler / Cyborg Frieza / King Cold) could be combined to save space That's the theory, at least. I just need something I can use as a template for multiple characters without having to create a bunch of animations or alter the model's shape. If anyone knows of or can make a model like that, let me know.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

I'm sure it doesn't look like much, but the fact that such a thing can be done in the first place could potentially add something completely unique (as far as I know) to the map. This was done with a single model and a single texture file and takes up much less space than having four seperate models and textures. And swapping the texture ingame is as easy as pushing a button. This same concept, when applied to a generic model and a head attachment system could obviously do a lot to upgrade the aesthetics of the game / characters. You could choose to have Vegeta with super saiyan hair in a pink shirt, for example. Or you could change Gohan's boring purple suit to something cooler, like the Great Saiyaman outfit or some saiyan armor. There could even be a mode / option that allows you to create your own custom character ingame using various head / body / texture combinations. I realize this is all cosmetic and we're still a ways off from actually hitting the map size limit, but I thought I'd shake things up a bit with a bit of a behind the scenes post. If anyone actually cares I'll gladly put up a demo map.

2.2 Beta 028c


Fixed another hilarious typo

Fixed a hilarious typo that broke bio broly



All Z Fighters can sense
Redid some terrain (removed some doodads, made newer areas more pathable)
Added a single player mode (removes fog and victory / defeat, allows you to level your hero up)
FT now gains 2 move speed per level in uss2 (capping at level 200). While in uss2, FT does not gain bonus move speed from Gohan's Training. In addition, uss2 is now also slowed based on health like any other character. Relevant numbers:

Future Gohan Training: 25% move speed, 17% attack speed (disabled while in uss2)
Max move speed: 522
uss2's old speed: 261 flat. No variation for health.
uss2's lowest potential speed (lvl 70, low health): 61
uss2's base speed (lvl 70, full health): 261
uss2's highest potential speed (lvl 200, full health): 522
uss2's lowest speed at 200+: 322

Removed a useless model that was just taking up space (Hint: Saiyaman)
creepmap (see the frequency of creep kills after the game has ended)
Reduced energy absorption's stat gain (by a lot)
Changed Mankind Destruction to hopefully make it less lagtastic. Should function exactly the same, but with improved performance.
made slight modifications to gravity chamber / bio fighters (should have no noticeable effect ingame)

2.2 Beta 027


Fixed an issue with Dende's healing
Fixed a Cell issue
19's Energy Absorption should now update automagically when 19 is upgraded.
Remade the creep respawn system. Creeps never reset for saga transitions. Instead, creeps killed before the transition will be upgraded when they respawn. If an old tier creep is killed after the transition, it will respawn as the current tier after 5 seconds. tl;dr Chains will no longer reset and transitions should not lag anymore. This new system also makes adding additional creep tiers much simpler and you may see them in the future.

Added Android 19. His stats are equal to Gero Stats * (0.5 * lvl). Levels are earned at 35, 50, and 90. He is a permanent hero and can farm, but he is destroyed and can be resummoned upon death. He also has Energy Absorption.
Buu gains Punch when absorbing Hercule.
Players absorbed while in a duel should no longer die.

Changed orderids for power wish

Add two levels to Destruction Sphere.
Buffed Destruction Sphere's damage (2.5 from 2.1)

You gain base stats *(20 / x + 20) stats from a tower kill, where x is the number of upgrades you are at. 10 upgrades = 2/3 stats. 50 upgrades = 2/7 stats. 0 upgrades = 1x stat, etc.
Towers no longer require research. They do still require lumber.
Scan for powers should only ping heroes.
Mass Teleport cast time reduced by 4 seconds

More fixes

Quick fixes

Stats can no longer be modded above 6.5 (from 12). Additionally, you can now modify them in increments of 0.5 and 1 (from 1 and 2).

Tao's period of time for pinging and acquiring a target is now 30 seconds (up from 5)
Tao is now vulnerable while on the pillar.
Tao now gains a .01x from 5 creeps, down from 10.

Hercule's Punch now does 75 bonus damage, up from 50.

Bebi gains a 4th level of his summons.
Saiyan memories now adds stats equal to your level + 1.

Towers now only have a 50% chance of giving a stat.

Piccolo's Multi form cooldown has been reduced to 80s at level 2 (down from 120)
Multi form's mana cost is now 100 at level 1.
Kyodaika is no longer a learned ability.
Hellzone Grenade's radius increased to 562 (from 512)

Contest: Design a character

Let me start by saying that I've been lacking in the free time department this week. Sorry about that. I'm wanting to make 020 a big update and I'd like to hear some ideas for new characters. Leave a comment on this post with the character you'd like to see, along with transformation / ability / mechanic / role ideas. Bonus points if you include icons, models, or other things of that nature. And feel free to suggest additions to other character suggestions if you feel it necessary. If your design is well thought out, you can expect to see it in the game soon™.

Abilities (Icons made by taking a picture, resizing to 64x64, going to this site and making buttons and disabled buttons):

Dodon Ray
7 levels
Learned at level 1
Beam-like ability. Anything that comes in contact with the head of the beam will cause it to explode. Deals int*lvl*2.25+100 damage in a 600 AoE. Travels 1300 units per second (heroes can go up to 522) and lasts for two seconds.

1 level
Learned at level 60
Throws a grenade. This is a very damaging ability but it can be knocked away by hitting it. Hurts allies and enemies. Deals more damage based on the amount of health Tao is missing.

Pressure Point Attack
1 level
Learned at level 1
Melee range. Tao attacks with his tongue, killing any unit considerably weaker than himself and damaging / stunning stronger units.

Crane School Teachings
15 levels
Learned at level 1
Basic Crit / Evasion, favoring crit.

Flying Pillar
1 level
Learned ???
Tao uproots a tree / pillar and can throw it / jump on it for transportation. Damages units where it lands.

Assassin. Fairly good at dealing damage to single targets and moving around the map. Most of his power comes from killing heroes.

First: Empowers the Dragon Balls. The next time you gather all of the balls, you or whoever uses the balls will have one additional wish per cast. Cooldown: 10 minutes. Requires level 60.

Second: As the Guardian of Earth, Dende has the ability to travel freely between the living and the dead worlds. Brings a dead ally back to Earth for a short period of time. Cooldown: 5 minutes.Duration: 30s Requires level 125. Note - The unit is still considered dead and will retain their halo. The Z Fighters can still be defeated while the unit is on earth, and if killed they will have a long delay on their respawn, as if they had died in the afterlife.

Cell's absorb westcity bonus is now a level bonus

Bebi's Finger Blitz Barrage has had its cone widened from 20 degrees to 40 degrees, and the amount of missiles has been increase from 6 to 9. The range has also been increased 15%. This will increase the damage at melee range, spread out the damage at longer ranges, and allow it to be a more viable chaining / pvp ability

Frieza should now be more easily clickable.

Yamcha is now level 6 and has a 2/3 chance to give 1 stat, down from 7 and 100%

Dende's stats should now update properly.

Dende's Missile speed increased.

Saga heroes no longer give bonus stats on death. They still give levels and drop items.

Hirudegarn and Super 17 have been buffed

Fixed a bug with Babidi's Buu transition cinematic

Changed the icon for obs

Hopefully fixed obs related bugs

Special Beam Cannon, Masenko mana cost scaling reduced

2.2 Beta 016

Attempted a fix on the ultra 13 double spawn thing.

Trying a change with cast animation backswings. Abilities should now finish casting as soon as the effect happens. Need feedback on this.

Modified terrain slightly.

Changed Dende's heal a little. Healing changed from int * lvl * 2 + 100 to int * (lvl + 3) + 100. Level 1 heal is about on par with a level 2 heal in 015, and level 7 heal should be about equal to a current level 5 heal. In addition, stats gained have been modified and will no longer scale ridiculously late game and will be better early game.

Fixed Dende's heal tooltip

Tickets used on earth will now appear in heaven.

Dragon balls can no longer spawn in the duel arena. Additionally, new spawn locations have been added.
Added a game timer

Increased the giant crab's stat gain

Created reminders for HBTC at level 35 and Saiyan Pods

Added some tips for beginners. These can be disabled by typing -tips off.

Saiyan pods reworked a little and now have a short cooldown.
Neutral heroes shouldn't level up (for real this time)
Tourney fighter timed life increased and changed slightly.
Goku / Vegeta now have stats when defused by Buu
Babidi's kill board should now update properly.
Buu now gains Dende's heal ability (And yes, it can give Broly stats.)
Dende has a ranged attack
Dende now has a unit portrait.
Dende's model is now more easily clickable.
Saiyan Pods are now more easily clickable.
What other units are hard to click? Let me know.
Dende has a ranged attack, as well as some abilities. Transformations have not been made, but a temporary multiplier based on dende's level has been created.
Dende is now int based.

Abilities (WIP):
Dende's Healing - Heals for an amount based on int, ability level. If used on a saiyan, it gives them 1 stat for every 400 health missing.
Sacred Water - Removes Majin Influence, forces Bebi out of a body, and instantly kills summoned units in an area.
Namekian fighting style
Namekian regeneration

I'm also thinking about adding some kind of dragon ball related ability. Not sure yet.

2.2 Beta 014

A lot of things are unfinished. There is a new playable character but it has no transformations or skills yet and should only be played to test things like victory / defeat, tournaments, HBTC, duels, sense, lockon, scouting, buu beam (Gives multi form for now), proper stat gain, death, ticket / dball usage, help skills etc.. The new area is also unfinished.

Neutral Passive units no longer share exp.
Saiyan pods no longer spawn where rock chunks used to be.
Saiyan pods from the first saga moved slightly.
Saiyan pods will now spawn whether level 10 was reached in time or not.
Bebi's medic spawns now have autocast on by default.
More terrain work

Rocks have been removed from heaven. Olibu, Pikkon, and Arqua will despawn if they enter the "low level" region.
Babidi / Yakon should now work as intended.
Bebi should no longer gain absurd stats when bodying Android 14.
Sagas will no longer teleport to camera controls.
Sagas now no longer take the stats of dabura, yakon, pui pui, or camera controls into consideration when setting their stats.
Changed terrain a little.
Added a -rot command, similar to -cam, for rotation,
fixed an issue with dball pinging
fixed an issue with cell's reform timer
Added full experience sharing (no experience loss for having nearby ally. You both gain 100% exp. Can easily be reversed if needed.) - Thoughts?

2.2 Beta 011

Changes that probably need testing:

Super 13 / Gotenks will lose 2/3 / half of the stats gained from the levels of their heroes when they fuse, respectively.
Remade Victory / Defeat triggers.
Not selected heroes should no longer be in the game.
Buu's smoke in various cinematics should now have pink particles (lol.)
Disabled Babidi's mana based bonus damage, as it has become apparent that he does not need it.
Character selection increased to 1 minute.
Added expanded tooltips for hero selection
The tournament's start is now delayed by 1 minute to compensate for the later game start.
Changed Oozaru slightly.
Remade Bio Broly's item yet again.
Timers for Gogeta should now be displayed properly.
Goku / Vegeta should now have stats after defusing.
Bebi should now be able to exit a body properly.
Evil heroes that transform should now no longer lose Bebi's implant
Cell's First form should now be the level that Cell unformed was when he triggers the transformation.
Tournament fighters should now automatically die after 20-25 seconds of combat.
Cooler should now be able to enter the tourney.

2.2 Beta 010

Quick bug fix update. All issues known to me from 009 have had a fix attempted. Zero testing has been done but I'm feeling lucky today.

2.2 Beta 009

Fixed a few bugs, added a character selection system. Need to know if anything on any character doesn't work.

Beta 009 Update 1

Spent the better part of the day rewriting all the player specific code to allow for a character selection system, then I made a character selection system. Why would I do a thing like that?

2.2 Beta 008

Added new models

Changed a little terrain

Added Popo's magic carpets. Walk into one and it will transport you to the other side of the map. There are currently carpets on top of the waterfall in the turtle area south of Gohan's spawn and near the cliffs at the southeast corner of the map.

Attempted to fix Broly's transformation issues.

Attempted to fix Cell's mana issues.

Piccolo and FT should no longer be able to stay in HBTC forever.

Metal Cooler should (hopefully) now not bug out and not respawn

Goten / Trunks / Androids 13 / 14 / 15 should not get extra stats when Bebi is inside them.

Bebi should no longer gain a lot of stats after leveling for the first time in a new form.

Cell junior stats should now work properly.

2.2 Beta 007

Quick fix update. Androids, Instant Transmission, Bebi taking allies, and Cooler's upgrades should work properly now. See the 006 post for a more complete changelog and testing priorities.


2.2 Beta 006

This will be hosted by SPN_Beta when the bot owner comes online. Until then, download the map and come to Clan SPN on US East to play.

Goku's Instant Transmission has been reworked. He can now use it regardless of nearby enemy heroes. He will also leave behind a fading image, and any played controlled hero touching this image when it disappears will be teleported with Goku. Need feedback.

Creep respawn system has been rewritten. There should no longer be any creep respawning bugs (hopefully) and the respawn time of creeps is now based on the number of players in the game (2 seconds off respawn for every player in the game, 60 second base respawn time). Need feedback and testing to verify that it works.

Attempted fixes to issues mentioned in the comments page for 005. Need someone to verify that these issues have been fixed.

The level required to transform to Ultra 13 has been changed to 50 levels above the level that Super 13 was created at. (If he was 100, the level is 150. If he was 63, the level is 113, etc.) This needs testing.

Attempted to fix an issue with fusion characters gaining more stats than they should have. This needs testing.

Gotenks should now have full health upon fusion and should no longer occasionally get wonky stats upon gaining a level. This needs testing.

Made a change to the LoS grass stuff. It should work as intended now, but it has not been tested.

Certain later sagas have had their difficulties increased. Feedback wanted.

Because of unfused androids' relatively higher power with the new multiplier system, Distortion Field's absorption has been decreased. Feedback, gogo.

Babidi's Mana based bonus damage will now only be triggered by Babidi.

Bugs from fusions (Gotenks, Super 13, Vegito, Gogeta) are the current focus. Watch their stats when fusing / leveling and try to find anything unusual.

As of right now, the focus is still on stat related bugs. If you find your hero not gaining stats for a kill or if something seems off, report it here. Bebi / Cooler / Krillin / fusion bugs are currently the highest priority for testing.

Annin's respawn timer should now be based on the number of evil players in the game.

Fusions, Bebi, Cooler, and Krillin should be playable. Bugs may still exist and should be reported.

Cooler clone stats are now based on cooler's stats and the amount of clones. If there is one clone, it should be equal to Cooler in stats, 2 clones 1/2, 5 clones 1/5, etc.. This needs testing.

Bebi's Enter ally should now award stats equal to the stats gained by his ally, in addition to experienceThis needs testing.

Attempted to fix many issues from beta 001. Testing is needed.

Redid a lot of the old code for stat gains and transformations

Fusions, Bebi, Cooler, and Krillin should be playable. Bugs may still exist and should be reported.

Babidi can now do additional damage based on his mana % on attack.

Cooler clone stats are now based on cooler's stats and the amount of clones. If there is one clone, it should be equal to Cooler in stats, 2 clones 1/2, 5 clones 1/5, etc.. This needs testing.

The intellect added by Gohan's Anger now scales properly.

FT's High Power Rush has been modified slightly. It should no longer be possible to remain in the HBTC past the 2 minute timer. This needs testing.

Bebi's Enter ally should now award stats equal to the stats gained by his ally, in addition to levels. This needs testing.

In game tips have been disabled. They were out of date and pointless.

Babidi now requires 250 kills to release Buu, up from 150. Additionally, heroes give bonus power for kills.

Gotenks should now be absorbed properly by Super Buu. This needs testing.

Scouter's fail chance has been decreased from 1/6 to 1/10.

F9 has been updated.

HBTC's timer should no longer continue after a player dies in it. This needs testing.

Metal Cooler clones should no longer be able to farm for upgrades.

the -cam command has been changed slightly. I require feedback on how the new cam works in game.
